A week on our classic sailing yacht LILLI – from Mallorca to the most beautiful islands of the Balearics and back across the open sea to Alicante.

Our journey begins in Palma de Mallorca, one of the great sailing metropolises of the Mediterranean. From here, we set course for Ibiza and Formentera.

We sail along spectacular coastlines, find beautiful anchorages, and enjoy life on board and on the islands. It's not about getting from one port to the next as quickly as possible. We want to sail together, discover hidden coves, spend the night at anchor, swim, and have enough time to experience Ibiza and Formentera on land as well.

The highlight to conclude is the great passage from the Balearics back to Alicante. We leave Formentera and set course for the Spanish mainland. Ahead of us lie around 100 nautical miles of open Mediterranean – including a night at sea.

We have already sailed this route ourselves and know from experience how varied it is. Relaxed island sailing, dreamy anchorages, and a real offshore passage make this trip an extraordinary sailing journey.

Route & Highlights

  • Palma de Mallorca – Start in one of the great sailing metropolises

Our journey begins at the Club de Mar Mallorca in Palma. Here you will settle into your cabin on the LILLI, get to know the ship and crew, and receive a detailed briefing.

Palma offers the perfect start: the famous cathedral La Seu, the historic old town, restaurants and bars, and a harbour atmosphere shaped by sailing. We will spend the first night on board at the Club de Mar.

The next day it’s time to cast off. We leave the bay of Palma and set course towards Ibiza.

  • Ibiza – Coves, old town and Mediterranean life

Ibiza is much more than clubs and nightlife. From the water, the island shows a completely different side: sheltered coves, steep rocky coastlines, small beaches, and beautiful anchorages.

Which coves we visit will depend on the wind and weather. If conditions are right, we will spend a night at anchor – swimming directly from the ship and enjoying an evening under the open sky.

We would like to spend another night in a marina. This allows plenty of time to explore Ibiza on land as well. Particularly worth seeing is Ibiza Town with its historic old town Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its winding streets, restaurants, and bars.

  • Formentera – turquoise waters and white beaches

From Ibiza, it is only a relatively short sailing leg to Formentera – and yet it feels like arriving in another world.

The smallest inhabited island of the Balearics is famous for its exceptionally clear water, bright sandy beaches, and a relaxed atmosphere. For sailors, Formentera offers some of the most beautiful anchorages in the Balearics.

We choose a sheltered spot to anchor, depending on the wind and weather. Now it's time for swimming, relaxing, and a trip ashore with the dinghy.

Once again, we enjoy the tranquil island life before the most active part of our journey begins.

  • The big night passage – heading for Alicante

From Formentera, we set course for the Spanish mainland. Now true offshore sailing awaits us.

Gradually, the Balearics disappear behind the horizon. All around us is just the open Mediterranean Sea. We organise the watches together and sail through the evening and night towards Alicante.

Anyone who wishes can participate actively: keeping course, trimming sails, keeping a lookout, and guiding the yacht through the night together with our skippers.

Far away from the lights of the islands and the mainland, the starry sky over the Mediterranean is particularly impressive. Later, we experience the sunrise at sea – for many sailors, one of those moments that stay in memory for a long time after such a journey.

And eventually, the Spanish coast reappears on the horizon.

  • Alicante – back on the mainland

After the night at sea, we reach Alicante. The entrance to the harbour with the city and the Santa Bárbara castle in the background marks the conclusion of our journey.

Our destination is the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante right in the city centre. Here we spend our last night on board.

This leaves plenty of time to stroll together in the evening along the palm-lined Explanada and the old town, enjoy good food, and reflect on the journey once more.

Who is this trip suitable for?

This trip is ideal for anyone who wants to combine a week in the Balearics with a genuine sailing experience.

The first days offer plenty of time for islands, bays, swimming, and Mediterranean life. To conclude, the night passage to Alicante presents a real challenge and a special experience at sea.

Sailors can actively participate, gain experience, and log nautical miles. But sporty beginners are also welcome. Our two experienced skippers will lead the yacht and involve you – as much as you wish – in sailing and daily life on board.

From Palma via Ibiza and Formentera to Alicante – a week between island paradise and offshore sailing on the classic yacht LILLI.

Mallorca – Start in Palma

Palma is not only the capital of the Balearics but also one of the most important sailing centres in the Mediterranean with its large marinas. Our journey starts at Club de Mar, where we will spend the first night so that we can visit the old town of Palma.

Depending on the weather, we will visit an anchorage on the south coast and spend the second night there.

Ibiza – Coves, old town and Mediterranean life

Ibiza is much more than clubs and nightlife. The island delights sailors with hidden coves, impressive rocky coastlines, and beautiful anchorages. At the same time, a visit to the historic old town of Dalt Vila, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and sits high above the harbour with its winding streets, is well worth it. We will spend one night in the harbour, allowing plenty of time to explore Ibiza on land.

Formentera – Caribbean in the Mediterranean

One of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean: turquoise waters, bright sandy beaches, and a relaxed atmosphere. Formentera is the smallest inhabited island of the Balearics and is famous for its exceptionally clear waters and long natural beaches. We will find a lovely anchorage, jump directly from the LILLI into the sea, and enjoy the island from its most beautiful side – from the water.

Itinerary

This trip is not a pre-planned itinerary down to the last detail. We are travelling with a sailing yacht and will adjust our route according to wind and weather.

This means: The mentioned islands and destinations form our planned travel route. The actual anchorages, departure times, and daily stages can be adjusted to the conditions while we are on the way.

Living at anchor

We will anchor in bays off Ibiza and Formentera and enjoy life. Swimming, dining in the cockpit, and in the evening going ashore by dinghy. We will be in the harbour for at least three nights: on the arrival day in Palma, one night in Ibiza, and finally in Alicante.
